Design and Innovation Management

The track focuses on enhancing design thinking as a base for innovation and social change through three main fields:

Design as a strategic tool for business growth: Design management puts the designer in the position of decision making. It allows the designer to lead processes based on design thinking through the design methodologies for identifying needs, analyze trends, characterize products and design processes.
Design as a research tool: research methodologies that use the design tools that offer design based solutions.

Design as a social change tool: A wide perspective on the environment in which the designer operates. Mapping the complex ecosystem in which a product or service exists through using the tools from the design management world.

The studies in the track are base on collaborations with the industry and the public sector such as:
Brainsway, Jolt- Design strategic innovation for a technologic company,identifying needs, developing a product and making it accessible to new clients.
Joint Israel- the Finance Ministry- Design of services for social equality through design thinking process.
Tzabar Medicine- developing home hospitalization projects based on design.

The Design Management and Innovation track gives the students an opportunity to research and develop in new fields of knowledge, in which their tool box as designers will be a competitive advantage.

Extreme situations have become a routine in our lives. From time to time we are required to tune and adjust our life systems in order to adapt to a new reality and continue to create value and meaning for ourselves and for the circles that we belong to. Design is now becoming a significant and strategic tool that helps us understand, disassemble, reassemble, modify, test and repair. As designers we are required to face challenges that were not previously in our territory. We are asked to solve complex problems in complex environments and use our unique toolbox to not only identify the problem but also offer an innovative and better alternative.
As our fields of action expand, so expand our influence and responsibility to repair what is broken and to create a new and better future. The thought that you are out there, in your professional fields, with the new and sophisticated toolbox you created for yourself during your studies, makes me happy and encourages me. I look forward to seeing your impact in the world and wish you to act with the same sense of urgency and responsibility that is so present in your projects here.
